Pro Pass policy
There are two different things people call a Pro Pass, and only one of them can ever end. This page says which is which, so you can check your own case against a written rule instead of taking anyone's word for it.
What we never do
A licence you paid for is never withdrawn over anything you say. Not for a bad review, not for a public argument, not for a complaint, not for disagreeing with us in any venue. It is not a thing we do when we are annoyed, and it is not a lever we hold. If that is ever in doubt, the rest of this page is worthless, so it is the first line on it.
You do not need an account. A purchased pass is a signed file checked on your own machine, but be clear about the limit of that: a pass can be withdrawn remotely, and it then stops unlocking the paid features. That is the only remote control that exists, it reaches nothing but the paid features, and the two cases below are the only ones that use it.
What can end
A supporter pass lasts as long as the support does. People who backed FunGen on Patreon were given a time-limited Pro pass as a thank you, on top of whatever they had bought. It is a benefit of an active pledge. When the pledge ends, the benefit ends, the same way it would for a magazine subscription. That is not a punishment and it is not connected to anything anyone said.
Some people hold both a supporter pass and a licence they bought. When the first ends the second is untouched, and that is exactly how it has worked every time.
A purchased pass is also blocked in two narrow cases, both about the pass and never about the person:
- It was refunded. The money went back, so the pass goes with it.
- It was given to someone else. A pass is for one person. Posting it publicly is the obvious case, but so is handing it to one other person to use as their own. What we act on is a pass running on a machine that is not yours, alongside its owner's own licence. That is not a grey area and it is not about volume, so this page will not pretend the line sits at some larger number than it does.
If your pass stopped working
Email us and say so. If it was a supporter pass reaching the end of its term, we will tell you plainly and point at what you still hold. If we got it wrong, we will fix it the same day and you keep the pass. We would much rather reissue one wrongly than take one wrongly.
You are also entitled to ask what we hold about your install and to have it deleted. That is on the privacy page, along with the complete list of what the app sends.
The community rooms
The Discord is moderated for conduct, not for opinion. Criticism of FunGen is welcome there and always has been; a great deal of the app exists because someone was blunt about a shortcoming. What is not welcome is sustained abuse of other people in the room. Those are different things, and moderation here follows the second, never the first.
Being removed from a chat room has no effect whatsoever on a licence. They are not connected, and one has never been used as leverage over the other.
FunGen is also discussed on forums it has no connection to. Which channels are actually ours, and which are not, is set out on the official channels page.
